If you haven’t heard, monochromatic looks are all the rage and aren’t dying out any time soon. As seen on the fall 2016 and spring 2017 runways, these one-color outfits are standing their ground in the fashion world. Here, I’ve shown you how to perfect the trendy monochromatic look focusing on blues, with a cool girl, casual twist.

Let’s start with the jeans. Everyone has a favorite pair of jeans, which fits perfectly with many diverse tops. Here, these jeans are no different. This pair, recently purchased from H&M in NYC last week, has quickly taken front and center in my closet. High-waisted, light blue and frayed denim are the qualities these jeans possess- and characteristics I am highly fond of. Plus, they style well (with as you’ve seen a t-shirt or a dressier blouse with heels).

Since we know denim pairs well with many colors, let’s talk about the shade it often looks best with- blue. Now this can be tricky. It’s all about the hue of the color. For example, if you pair a blue top similar to the denim color you can easily get lost in a boring state. However, if you pair a top that is a little lighter or deeper than your denim, that’s where you look best.

For those of you wishing to get your monochromatic look like this one, I highly suggest checking out the clothing options available here at Joli Blue. This Tulsa based company is an online boutique offering the cutest women’s clothing and accessories– https://www.joliblue.comTheir suede hats and white stone chokers would additionally work well against a monochromatic look or any outfit of choice.

This top, The Mandy Tee, available for purchase at Joli Blue, is a wonderful example of the hue to pair with light denim. It is a tad darker than the jeans and offers a little dimension between the monochromatic vibe. This piece is a stylish and comfortable t-shirt perfect for day-to-day style. It also comes in two colors- denim blue and gray, and wears extremely well. Additionally, it does not wrinkle easily- something we all appreciate.

Plus, The Gray Report followers receive a 20% DISCOUNT on their entire purchase from Joli Blue- and what a perfect time to use our Christmas money! To receive the discount, make sure and enter “GRAY” at checkout to get the discount on your total purchase.

Since I wanted my top to be looser than normal, I got a size large and tucked half of in into the front of my high, buttoned jeans. Doing this step offers a laid-back, stylish, yet casual look. However, if you want to amp up the style factor with the jeans, pair a neutral colored graphic tee with them- it will be ultimate street style.

To finish your monochromatic look, I suggest pairing either tennis shoes or flat sneakers- like the quilted Vans or Steve Maddens. These Nike Thea Air Max Sneakers I’ve paired have a smidge of blue and carry on the monochromatic look. I received these prior to Christmas and wore them everyday in NYC and my feet didn’t ache once! I love the comfort level these shoes offer, the lightweight feel and last but not least- the design.
