Happy July, all! For today’s post, I’m discussing a product review of LipSense by SeneGence that was sent to me from a friend. How many of you have tried this lipstain? What are your thoughts on it? Leave me a comment below and we’ll chat!
Ashley Gray, my friend and LipSense product specialist, initially contacted me and asked if I was interested in trying this buzzed about makeup. After hearing numerous reviews on the product, I decided to try it out for myself and make my own opinion.
Prior to receiving the product Ashley really wanted to know what lipstick colors I preferred, so we discussed color options and she sent me some tips and tricks information when using the product.
The color she sent me was Dark Pink. It is a true pink with warm undertones and looks wonderful with tan skin. Since I’ve been lying out at the pool almost every day, I have a little of a tan so I love to wear this with a neutral eye look and bronzer. It’s not too bright but is a wonderful summer color.
If you have never tried this product, there is a series of steps you must take to ensure a lasting effect. Though, if you already know how to apply the product go ahead and skip down to my opinion and review!
STEPS TO APPLY
The first step is to make sure your lips and clean and exfoliated. For those of you who don’t have a lip exfoliator, you can DIY your own sugar scrub or Google lip scrubs and numerous recipes will appear. I personally like to mix brown sugar and olive oil and make my own scrub- its so easy and quick!
After your lips have been exfoliated of the dead skin and cleaned, be sure and shake your LipSense product prior to applying. Then, when using the product you will apply in layers. When I applied the product I did three separate layers on top and bottom lips and let them dry between each layer. SeneGence recommends waiting 3-5 seconds between each layer. During this step be sure and keep lips apart. I learned that if you let them touch it makes the products harder to dry and feels extremely sticky.
If you are like me and make a mistake when applying the stain, LipSense has an Ooops! Remover that looks like a clear gloss. It helps to remove any product from that isn’t supposed to be there. This was especially helpful around the corners of my mouth where I let the product slip.
Following application and drying time, I applied the clear Moisturizing Gloss and rubbed my lips together. I absolutely LOVE this product. It is a thick, creamy gloss and stays on the lips for a long period of time. Plus, it makes the lip color really pop. I recommend keeping this in your purse, as you will want to apply it throughout the day.
Overall, I really enjoyed LipSense and was pleasantly surprised with how long lasting and color efficient it was. I wore this out to each lunch and go shopping and it stayed on all day, even after eating! It stayed on so well that it was a challenge to take it off at the end of the day. I noticed when I woke up the next day I still had traces of the color on my lips!
To be honest, I was a little nervous in the beginning of trying the product because the first couple of times I wore it I felt like I applied a ton of gloss, but Ashley said that was normal because LipSense can make lips feel dry. This is because there is no wax in the product like other lipsticks. After applying the gloss and getting used to wearing the product, this was not an issue for me.
In the end, I found this waterproof product to really be a good fit and it left me wanting to try other colors! I think for my next color I’ll try a bit more of a nude shade, possibly with mauvy undertones or maybe even a bright apple red.
