New York Street Style

Posted on

This Christmas holiday, Clay and I are embarking on a trip to New York City- one of my most beloved cities. For this trip, I am already in the planning stages of my outfits. To say I’m excited is an understatement. As we know, NYC will (hopefully) be cold in December when we go, so this street style outfit will be perfect for walking the streets, eyeing the 5th avenue shops.

First, can we admire this chic gray hooded poncho from Antique Garden in Norman? Last year I become obsessed with ponchos because they are extremely versatile and can go with many different outfits, and this poncho serves as an accessible and stylish piece- perfect for street style. For example, this outfit I paired the light poncho with dark, ripped denim jeans and neutral colored sneakers (all from Antique Garden); however, it would look just as good with black tight leggings and knee high boots for a more dressed up look.

In NYC we plan on walking almost everywhere, so I’m expecting myself to gravitate more towards comfortable sneakers. These Steve Madden black shoes are perfect for that. In my opinion, they pair best with skinny or ankle, cropped jeans, like the ones shown. Also, no socks are required for them!

For accessories with this poncho, make sure and stay on the simple side. Think pearl earrings, silver or gold hoops or anything simple and classic. This poncho speaks for itself, so I would advise against pairing a necklace with it. For the bag, I will pair my Tory Burch gray cross body bag, which allows for hands free access while shopping- my favorite!

This is one outfit I absolutely cannot wait to wear. The poncho is rather heavy and with the current Oklahoma weather, I can’t wear it yet here, so here I come NYC. All the pictured items are for purchase at Antique Garden on Campus Corner in Norman and if you go, make sure you tell them you saw it first at The Gray Report!
