chey-jeffco-0092Usually I don’t find myself gravitating towards materials out of my comfort zone. Normally I’m a cotton, denim, or silk kind of girl; however, when I saw this earth tone suede mid high skirt, I knew I had to try it. I adore the color, gold detail and length of the piece. Easily, this is my favorite that I styled with Karma Fashion Co.

First of all, I love how suede resembles a time long ago- the 1970s. That particular decade was a time for unique, personal fashion and extreme individuality. During those years, bottoms made a huge impact on fashion. There were bell-bottom pants, high-waisted flare jeans, and chic calf leather booties in varying colors. Floral was above anything else popular and the ladies middle parted sleek straight hair speaks high style to me. Also in attendance during the 70s was yes, the suede skirt, similar to the one pictured here.

At first when styling this outfit, I felt stumped. Not often do I sport skirts in my daily outfits, so I wondered how I would find a top to balance out the bottom, especially since it has the gold button detail vertically down the front. Though when I saw the abundantly cute graphic tees Karma has available I automatically knew what to pair. The shirt I paired with the skirt not only has a killer design and tag line, but it was extremely soft, light-weight and didn’t hug my neck like some tee’s do.

Now, if you want to wear this skirt and be a bit dressier, I wouldn’t recommend a graphic tee as the top. This combination is more of a casual dressy look- perfect for a night out with friends or drinks after work. For a more formal option, you could add a tight long sleeve body suit (neutral in color, I would prefer black) as the top or even do a cold shoulder option. You could even do a tight turtleneck. My only recommendation with this skirt is to keep the top somewhat tight and snug to your body.

To amp up the outfit, I added my signature black leather Daniel Wellington watch and a brown tassel beaded bracelet. For extra flare, I paired my black velvet choker around my neck. It instantly makes the outfit trendy and cool. If you don’t have one, I suggest you go out and get one. In an instant they amplify any outfit and add a unique and cool detail. Karma also has ton of these available for purchase, and even some of theirs are leather with detail.

For shoes, I went with my classic Sam Edelman lace up heels, also in suede. I tell you; I’m on a suede kick this season.

To keep with the theme, my second outfit was the same rustic colored suede mid high dress. This dress I like, but I didn’t feel like it was as flattering as the first option.

This outfit screams fall to me, and I’m okay with that. Pair a dark brown cool toned lipstick with it; some waves in your hair and you are set for a dressy ensemble. Again, my Sam Edelman heels went with this outfit. I can’t stress enough- these heels are so comfortable and on trend, but my most favorite aspect is how versatile they are.

For cool dressy nights, add a black blazer with minimalistic heels or chunky leather boots. In terms of street style this dress would look bomb with a distressed and ragged blue jean jacket with white sneakers- my favorite.
